Fine particle cleaning for mold-sensitive homes

Also called small particle cleaning (SPC).

Mold removal gets rid of the growth. It doesn’t get the fine dust that spreads through the rest of the house — spores, fragments and contaminated dust settled on every surface. For most people that’s fine. For people who are highly allergic or mold-sick, it isn’t.

Who it’s for

  • People who are highly allergic or mold-sick, in a home with “normal” mold levels that still makes them sick.
  • Homes where the last mold job had no containment, or the containment failed and spread contamination.
  • Anyone told to get their home back to normal after remediation.

What we do

This isn’t a cleaning crew with better vacuums. It’s a written, multi-stage process built for people who react to what most cleaners leave behind.

  • The whole house, not just the problem rooms. Ceilings to floors, inside cabinets and closets, every room on a set path, so nothing cleaned gets contaminated again.
  • Controlled air the whole time. The AC is shut down, the vents are sealed, and HEPA air scrubbers run throughout the job.
  • Multiple rounds, with settling time between them. The finest particles take hours to come down, so we come back for them.
  • No fragrances, no chemical residue. Nothing is left behind that a sensitive person would react to.

Removal is the target. Dead or alive, spores and fragments still cause reactions, so killing them isn’t enough. They have to come out of the house.

Your belongings

Everything is inventoried, photographed and cleaned by type, outside the house or in a cleaning chamber. Nothing goes back into a clean room until both the item and the room are clean.

How we prove it worked

  • ATP swabs before and after, at the same marked spots, so you see the numbers drop.
  • Laser particle counts down to 0.3 microns, before and after, so you see the air come clean.
  • Then one more pass. Once the readings hit the target, we make one more complete cleaning pass anyway.

Common questions

ERMI fail!! Now what?

An ERMI measures mold in the settled dust in your home. A high score, even with no visible mold, usually means fine particles are still settled through the house. Once any mold growth is gone and the moisture is fixed, whole-house fine particle cleaning removes that dust. Then an independent inspector retests. We never use essential oils, because they can interfere with DNA dust tests like the ERMI and hide what is still there.

High HERTSMI-2 score: what do I do?

The same steps. HERTSMI-2 is scored from a settled-dust sample, just like the ERMI. Fix any growth and moisture first, then clean the fine dust out of the whole house, then retest.

Is this safe for CIRS?

We do not treat CIRS; that is for your doctor. What we do is built for sensitive people: fragrance-free soap and water only, no bleach, no essential oils, and no chemical residue left behind. You should not be home while we clean, because the dust in the air is highest while the work is going on.

My last mold company didn’t use containment. Can you fix it?

Yes, as long as the mold itself was removed and the moisture source is fixed. Spores from an uncontained job settle all over the house, so we clean the whole house, not just the rooms where the work was done.

Do you test?

No. Louisiana does not allow the same company to do remediation and testing on one property. We check our own work with ATP swabs and laser particle counts before and after. Lab tests like the ERMI, HERTSMI-2 or air samples come from an independent inspector.
